Megan here --
This weekend is Pride in New York City, making it as good a time as any to say:
the icon Meg Stalter
I joke that Style Girlfriend's elevator pitch is, "We're like a small GQ, if GQ was run entirely by women.”
Here's what that means in practice: Our all-female editorial team shares trusted men's lifestyle advice and product recommendations with an audience of guys (like you!) who care what women think.
The result: The Style Girlfriend POV is hit-you-over-the-head-heterosexual.
Like, '90s rom com-heteronormative vibes.
To put it more plainly:
We're (mostly) straight women speaking to (mostly) straight men.
Which is great, by the way!
Telling guys in no uncertain terms what women want to see them wearing, and how to act?
We would pay you to let us do this!
It's also the tl;dr for why we don't usually do much for Pride month.
But being an ally to the queer community? That's table stakes for what women expect of a man in 2026.
Allyship could look like shutting down a friend making a nasty homophobic joke.
Or refusing to suggest queerness is a disqualifying trait the way the some people do.
We won’t give in to the capitalist urge to share a roundup of Pride merch (though these Bombas socks are nice).
Instead, consider making a donation to Lawyers For Good Government or attending a Pride event in your city before June is over.
And if you are reading this thinking, Wait, Style Girlfriend is for straight guys? That's news to me!
Then let me just say, hi! Let’s grab brunch and kiki!
